At a certain point in the service he stepped up from the pew to the pulpit for his remarks. We sat with deep appreciation as he spoke for us, articulating and delivering words that will forever be remembered by the family.

"The older people present," my brother said in the course of his meditation, "will remember our mother (affectionately called 'Ma') as an alto singer. Here she had obvious talent.

"Mother's love of, and gift for, the alto part, found its way into thousands of programs, broadcasts, telecasts, and recordings. So, when we hear her rich and resonant voice sing now, it takes on added meaning."

I remember, as if it were yesterday, how Mother and I gathered in a Chicago studio to make this music. First, we decided that the selection of songs would be to remember her mother. Grandmother Crisco was a very devout woman who, after giving her testimony in her church, shockingly died immediately upon returning to her seat. Mother chose her songs, and then mine.

I couldn't take my eyes off Mother's beautiful face and the spirit she evoked while singing. It was all I could do to keep my eyes dry while we were recording. I knew that we were making a legacy for future generations which would instill their love of God, and our love for each other.
